Troubleshooting TheLessonPlanBook

I can see the lesson plans on the calendar, but how do I edit them?

There are two ways to edit your lessons. You can click on your scheduled lesson on the weekly calendar to view it and then select the edit button. You may also go to the List View of the lesson plans, select the lesson you want to edit and click the Edit button. After you are done editing, you must click the save button for your changes to be saved.

How do I find a lesson plan if it's not visible on my calendar?

You can find all of your saved lesson plans under the My Lessons tab in the List View.

Can I keep some of my lesson plans private but share others?

Yes. All of your lessons will be kept private until you want to share them with the teachers you want to share with. To share, view the lesson from the List view that you want to share. Once you are viewing the lesson you want, click the Share button and enter in the email of the teacher you want to share with (the teacher will need to have a TheLessonPlanBook account). If they don't have an account you may email them the lesson using the Email button.

How do I create a lesson plan that rolls over next year so I can teach it again?

Your lessons will be saved in your My Lessons until you remove them from the listing. To teach the lesson again, you will just need to reschedule the lesson on your weekly calendar again.

I want to look at more detail about my lesson plans without clicking separately on each day. How do I do this?

Go to List View. You can access the List View by clicking the My Lessons link or tab in your control panel at the top of the application.

Can I print out lesson plans to take to class with me or give to a substitute?

Easily. Simply view the lesson plan you want to print and click the print button.

When trying to update or delete a lesson plan, the system gave me the message “This action cannot be performed on this item.” What does that mean?

The system generates this message based on the permissions for the item you selected. While you may have access to update or delete other lesson plans, you do not have access to that particular one.

How can I view the lesson plans for just this week?

To view lesson plans for this week, or for any other week, click the Week View tab. From there you can choose which week to view. You may also access the week view by selecting a date in the calendar of the week you want to view.

When I’m trying to print I get the following message “Printing requires Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater.” What do I do?

If you do not already have Internet Explorer installed you will first need to install it. It can be obtained from http://www.microsoft.com. You should then load the application within Internet Explorer where you will be able to print.

I updated a lesson plan but I don’t remember how to get back to it. How can I find it again?

You can find all of your saved lessons under the My Lessons tab.

What is a user level?

For districts, when an administrator creates a user they select which “levels” a user is in. These levels provide default access to the system. For instance on your system there may be two levels, one called teacher and one called student. Teachers have the ability to create lesson plans, whereas students do not.

Why did I get to a page that says 'Access Denied'?

Your session has expired. A session is only good for 2 hours, after that you will have to re-login. This is a built-in security measure to mitigate the risk of someone leaving their computer logged in. Try logging in again and going to that page.

How do I upload resources to my lesson plans?

To upload your resource in your lesson plan you will want to input the resource while creating or updating a lesson plan. Type the name of the resource into the box with the rich text editor. Highlight the name and click the insert link button. This will link your resource to your lesson.
